CP Violation refers to processes in which the combined symmetries of charge conjugation and parity are not conserved. This phenomenon implies that the laws of physics distinguish between matter and antimatter. CP violation is observed in certain decays of mesons and plays a crucial role in explaining the dominance of matter in the universe. It arises naturally within the Standard Model but is insufficient to account fully for the observed matter–antimatter asymmetry. Studying CP violation provides insight into fundamental symmetries and time-reversal properties. Experimental investigations involve high-precision measurements in particle accelerators. CP violation is a key topic in flavor physics and cosmology. Understanding its origin may reveal physics beyond the Standard Model.
